Recently, our team was asked a question: “I’m currently in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme — can you advise me on what visa options I have to stay longer?”
We wanna share the answer from our specialists:
I’m currently in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme — can you advise me on what visa options I have to stay longer?
Greetings 👋
My name is Alexander, I am your personal manager. Let me help you!
17.11.2025 12:06:10 Ukrainian consular offices in the UK cannot provide legal advice on UK immigration categories, but you should be aware of the options currently available under UK law for individuals who entered the country through the Homes for Ukraine scheme. Your current permission to stay is time-limited and granted under a special humanitarian route. To remain in the UK beyond your existing permission, you must apply directly through UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) for a visa under one of the standard immigration categories. Common pathways include the Skilled Worker Visa, Student Visa, Family Visa (if you have a qualifying partner or parent in the UK), or other employment-based routes, each of which has strict eligibility, financial, and sponsorship requirements. The Embassy cannot advise which route best suits your circumstances, as such advice may be given only by a regulated UK immigration adviser. However, we can assist with Ukrainian documentation you may need for your application.
17.11.2025 12:20:12 As a beneficiary of the Homes for Ukraine scheme, you currently hold a specific humanitarian status that does not automatically convert into a long-term immigration category. The ability to stay in the UK beyond the expiry of this permission is governed solely by UK immigration rules, and only UKVI and licensed immigration advisers can provide legal guidance on the correct visa pathway. Potential options may include transitioning into a work-based route (such as the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker Visa), a Student Visa if you intend to pursue formal studies, or certain family routes if you have a qualifying relationship with a UK citizen or settled person. Each visa type has detailed requirements regarding sponsorship, English language ability, financial evidence, and lawful status. The Embassy cannot intervene in UK visa decision-making but can help issue or certify Ukrainian documents that may support your application.
