03.11.2025 10:26:19 The Ukrainian Consulate in the UK does not issue apostilles for UK-origin documents, as this function falls under the jurisdiction of the UK authorities. To have a British document recognized in Ukraine, it must first be legalized by obtaining an apostille from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Afterward, the document should be translated into Ukrainian by a certified translator, and the translation may be notarized or certified by the Consulate. The Consulate can then verify and legalize Ukrainian-origin documents for use in the UK but cannot apply apostilles to British ones. Therefore, individuals should first complete the FCDO apostille process before submitting the document to the Consulate for optional consular certification or translation approval.

Under the Hague Apostille Convention, this task is performed by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Once the apostille is affixed, the document must be officially translated into Ukrainian for use in Ukraine. The Consulate may authenticate the translation, verify the translator’s credentials, or provide notarization if necessary. For documents issued in Ukraine and intended for use in the UK, the Consulate may perform consular legalization instead of apostille, depending on the document type. Applicants are advised to confirm whether Ukraine requires apostille or consular legalization in their specific case before submitting documents.
