How Ukrainians Can Donate Blood in the United Kingdom
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure you meet the requirements:
- You are 17–65 years old
- Your weight is over 50 kg
- You have been living in the UK for at least 3 months
- You have no temporary restrictions (recent surgeries, infections, antibiotics, etc.)

After registration, a personal "Give Blood" account will be created for you.
Book a convenient time
In your online account or mobile app, choose:
- The nearest blood donation center
- Date and time
- Donation type: whole blood (most common) or plasma/platelets (if available)
If there are no available slots — enable notifications, and the system will alert you when an appointment becomes available.
Prepare for your visit
24 hours before donation:
- Drink plenty of water
- Eat well
- Avoid alcohol
- Documents: passport is not required — confirmation of the appointment or SMS is enough.
At the blood donation center
The visit takes approximately 45–60 minutes:
- Check-in at reception
- Fill out a health questionnaire (ask for assistance if needed)
- Finger-prick blood test to check iron levels
- Seating in the donor chair
- Actual blood donation takes 5–10 minutes
After donation
- You will be offered a drink and a snack
- Rest for 10–15 minutes
- Avoid sports and heavy physical activity during the day

Your blood test results (hemoglobin, infectious disease markers) are automatically saved in your profile — you can monitor your health status.
How often can you donate blood?
- Men — every 12 weeks
